Typewriter stolen, typewriter drowned

Typosphere, can you help i.d. these two machines?
400 Blows and Young Adam are two more titles for my Typewriter Films series.

Typewriter 1 looks like a Royal 10 standard. Typewriter 2 appears to have an Imperial logo swimming with the fishes.

To build on Dwayne's IDs, I think the Royal is an early #10 with double glass windows, and the Imperial is a Good Companion ... now, which model?

@Dwayne, @Richard, impressive. I guessed the Imperial but not the Royal 10. I wonder if anyone could offer an educated guess on the model.

I have no idea, but I would rescue the drowned one.

I've had The 400 Blows in my Netflix queue for a while. I need to move it to the top.

It is indeed a Royal 10, and as such it's a really hefty machine to be toting around! that kid must have strong arms... and isn't suffering from lumbago yet.

I only knew the Royal, because there's one very similar about 20 feet away from me. Can we choose to believe that these were irreparable shells from repair shops?

Wow, it's been years since I saw "The 400 Blows". I can't even recall the typewriter-theft scene. Nice screen caps, Ton!
In widescreen, too.

P.S.- Have you sat down to "From Russia With Love" yet, old man?

I haven't seen Young Adam, but it sounds interesting. I'll have to put it on my Netflix queue.

We used to watch The 400 Blows nearly every year in one French class or another. I've seen it at least half-a-dozen times! I think the only time I enjoyed it was the last viewing when I was already in my twenties. Even though it's about kids, it's not a childrens' movie. I definitely needed to be an adult to appreciate it.

@Bill, yeah, I would too.

@Dana, a masterpiece of cinema, it deserves to be on top of your queue.

@Miguel, you are right! At some points in the scene, Antoine's friend helps him carry the Royal 10.

@Peter, in Young Adam, Joe is shown typing on the Imperial so it is functional, unless there was another machine used in the drowning scene.

@Teeritz, thanks, I only recently recalled the typewriter scenes myself, it's been years since I last saw the film. Thanks to the Criterion Collection for widescreen, it was amazing to see 400 Blows again. From Russia with Love is on my queue, don't you worry, ye old geezer!

@Lauren, Young Adam is a somber but intriguing film, it's worth watching. You're absolutely right, 400 Blows is about kids but not FOR kids.

Stunt typewriter?

@Peter, if only.

I always had such respect for Ewan McGregor. Not only is his Obi-Wan quite good, but movies like The Island have kept him up there for me. Now, he goes and tosses an IGC in the river? I don't care if it was 'just the character'...he could have refused the part based solely on that!

Great post. I will have to check these out here soon.

@Ken, I hope you can forgive Ewan McGregor one day. Lol!
